Hamilton Day 2021 kicks off this Saturday

The big day has finally arrived: the return of Hamilton Day – a mass celebration of all things local – is happening all day this Saturday, November 20th.

Hamilton Day 2021 marks the resurrection of an event first held 90 years ago as a day that encouraged city residents to shop local and pour their money back into the local economy at the height of the Great Depression.

The COVID-19 pandemic feels like an extremely apropos time to revive this day, which will see countless small businesses, shops, restaurants, and more offering one-day specials, collaborations, and other fun surprises.

One example out of dozens is the city’s O.G craft brewery, Collective Arts. For Hamilton Day, the brewery is offering a special Hamilton Brewery 12 Pack: a mixed pack of a dozen beers from many of the city’s best breweries including Fairweather, Merit, Shawn & Ed, and Collective Arts itself. Better still, $10 of each case sold will be donated to Hamilton Food Share.

Collective Arts will also be hosting the Hamilton Vintage Community Pop-Up Market at their beerhall at 207 Burlington Street East from 12 pm to 6 pm with proof of vaccination required for attendees who want to peruse items curated by a collection of local vintage vendors.

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg, and locals are encouraged to check out their favourite places in town and show them some love on Hamilton Day and help give the local economy a huge boost after a very difficult year for many small businesses and industries.
