Hamilton public health is preparing for the next phase of COVID-19 vaccine rollout, with the inclusion of a third booster dose now available to select priority groups in the city.
Though the city’s main priority is to continue administering first and second doses to residents who have yet to be vaccinated against COVID-19, a third booster shot has been added to the mix amid real-world evidence of gradually waning immunity around six months after receiving the second vaccine dose.
If you are 70+, a health care worker, essential caregiver, Indigenous adult, or had 2 doses of AstraZeneca you can get a COVID-19 booster dose by appointment, 6 months after your second dose.

In order to provide optimal immunity to Hamilton residents as the pandemic continues to impact the city, third booster shots are now available to select groups who are now eligible to book an appointment if at least six months have passed since their second dose.
These groups include residents aged 70 and up; healthcare workers and essential caregivers in long-term care and retirement homes; individuals who received a completed series of a viral vector vaccine like AstraZeneca or Johnson & Johnson; and First Nations, Metis, and Inuit residents ages 18 and over, as well as any non-Indigenous household members.
Residents who currently qualify for a booster can book their appointment via the city website or by calling 905-974-9848, option 7. No walk-ins will be offered for booster shots.
Eligibility will continue to expand in the coming weeks and months, with Hamilton residents able to book a booster shot based on priority.
