Hamilton youth ages 5-11 can book their COVID-19 vaccine now

Following paediatric clinical trials and full approval from Health Canada, Hamilton residents between the ages of 5 and 11 are now eligible to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

Paediatric doses of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine – which are a smaller size than the regular adult doses – arrived this past Sunday night, and Hamilton public health has begun accepting appointment bookings as of this morning (Tuesday, November 23rd) at 8 am.

Qualifying Hamiltonians must at least be turning 5 years old in 2021 with a birthdate in 2006 to receive their first dose, with the city’s paediatric vaccination effort officially beginning this Thursday, November 25th.

There are multiple ways that Hamilton youth can receive their vaccine, including through fixed-site clinics, participating primary care clinics, pharmacies, and a series of mobile pop-up clinics that will be hosted through the coming weeks in various Hamilton neighbourhoods.

Eligible Hamilton residents between the ages of 5 and 11 can book their appointment for their first dose at Hamilton.ca/GetYourVaccine, or by calling the public health hotline at 905-974-9848, option 7.
