New local grocer Strathcona Market is opening soon in Hamilton

Hamilton is about to get a new grocer and food hub that focuses on locally-sourced products from the city and region’s farmers, chefs, and artisans.

Strathcona Market – an offshoot of the existing Dundurn Market and their recent extension Ottawa Market – is preparing to open its doors soon at 460 York Boulevard.

Locals will recognize the spot as the former site of The Mustard Seed Co-op, a grocery store with a similar focus on local products that met a tumultuous end a few months ago after filing for bankruptcy.

The folks behind Dundurn Market readily took over the space and will use it as a hub to highlight the best from our local providers and purveyors, from locally-farmed produce to sourdough from The General Bread & Pastry to meats from J. Waldron Butchers and even handmade chocolate from Pearl Street Chocolate.

Strathcona Market has been teasing its progress on social media, and they’re expected to open up soon. When that happens, the market will undoubtedly become a valued community staple for lovers of all things local!

Follow along with their progress on social media.
