Starting this week, eligible Hamilton residents ages 50 and up are eligible to book an appointment for a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccines.
Locals who fall into this category are now eligible to receive a booster dose, which public health is recommending due to evidence that COVID-19 vaccine immunity begins to wane around six months after the second dose.

The importance of third doses is also thanks to the continued rise of the more infectious Omicron variant of COVID-19, which has been spreading at an unprecedented rate throughout Ontario and is on track to become the dominant variant in the coming weeks.
To book a booster appointment, eligible residents can access the city’s online booking portal at Hamilton.ca/GetYourVaccine or book by calling 905-974-9848, option 7.
Bookings are available by appointment only, with no walk-in option currently available.
Additionally, beginning on January 4th, 2022, the Ontario government is opening COVID-19 vaccine booster appointments to all residents ages 18 and up, provided that 6 months – or 168 days – have passed since they received their second dose.
