In prior years of the Hamilton Arts Awards, recipients were recognized in specific categories. Now, however, the more specific categories have been done away with in favour of an open and generalized “Creator Award” category, in which artists of all disciplines can be nominated.
On top of the Creator Award, there is also a Lifetime Achievement Award to recognize the work of a mid to late-career artist, and an Arts Champion Award that honours individuals who have volunteered their time to the support of an arts institution, event, or ad-hoc group.
To nominate an artist, Hamilton residents can go on the city website to download the Nomination Package, which must be completed and submitted by January 14th, 2022. Eligibility criteria is also listed on the website.
