This Hamilton golf course is becoming a disc golf course for winter

Just because winter is here, doesn’t mean a good golf course can’t still be used for some fun, snowy recreation.

In fact, Hamilton is turning its King’s Forest Golf Course into a temporary championship-level disc golf course for the winter, designed by the Ontario Disc Sports Association and open from December 6th, 2021 until March 11th, 2022.

“Disc Golf is a flying disc sport usually played on a course with 9 or 18 holes,” reads a message on the city website.

“Players complete a hole by throwing a disc from a tee pad or a designated area toward a target (basket), then throwing again from where the previous throw landed, until the basket is reached. The number of throws a player uses to reach each basket is tallied (as par). The goal is to have the lowest number of throws to complete each hole.”

For the 2021/2022 season, disc golf at King’s Forest Golf Course is completely free to access for locals, but timeslots must be reserved in advance through the city website, with tickets available at 9 am the day before play for reservation.

For those who don’t own their own disc golf equipment, a lending program will be available onsite, and discs can be purchased to own as well.
