One of Hamilton’s large-scale COVID-19 vaccine clinics is now accepting walk-ins for ages 50 and up who want to get their third booster dose.
The vaccine clinic at the Centre on Barton will be accepting eligible residents on a walk-in basis effective today, January 5th, with no advance booking required. Eligible residents can simply show up with their OHIP card between 8 am and 8:30 pm daily and get their booster.
In an effort to increase booster dose administration, starting tomorrow, January 5, 2022, all individuals in the community aged 50+ who qualify for a third/booster dose can walk into the Centre on Barton COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic to receive one.

The city is offering this as a means of ramping up booster dose administration while Hamilton reckons with the impacts of the extremely infectious Omicron variant of COVID-19.
While there are signs that Omicron may be less virulent on an individual basis, its outstanding contagiousness means that the virus still runs the very real risk of overwhelming Hamilton’s healthcare capacity if efforts aren’t made to slow the spread.
Booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccines are shown to increase protection against the Omicron variant, with particularly strong efficacy at preventing severe illness and death.
