With Ontario keeping its PCR testing capacity scaled back – making it difficult to know how prevalent COVID-19 cases are across the province – a new website in Hamilton is helping to track and keep a record of positive Rapid Antigen Tests taken at home.
The Hamilton RAT Tracker – a citizen-driven online tool – is available so city residents who test positive or negative for COVID-19 on an at-home rapid test can still report their results on a public forum, helping to paint a somewhat clearer picture of COVID-19 spread in the city.
The website also allows locals in schools – including students, teachers, and staff – to report their test results by school location.
It’s advisable that locals keep a record of their positive COVID-19 tests if they use a rapid test at home by reporting it to their family doctor and taking a photo of the positive test.
The Hamilton RAT Tracker lists all of the reported test results anonymously and displays them on a map to give a better visual sense of what areas of Hamilton are most impacted by COVID-19 spread.
However, the website is only as effective as the number of people who use it, so if you’ve tested positive on a rapid test, report it through the website here.
