Teenage Head guitarist Gord Lewis found dead in Hamilton

Gord Lewis, guitarist for the famed Hamilton punk rock band Teenage Head, was found dead at the age of 65 on Sunday.

Lewis’ untimely death marks the third homicide in Hamilton for 2022, with Hamilton Police having charged 41-year-old Jonathan Lewis – son of Gord – with second-degree murder.

A release from the Hamilton Police Service explains that multiple emails had been sent to news outlets on Sunday, August 7th with information related to a deceased person.

Based on the information, police visited a residence at 175 Catherine Street South and found the deceased Lewis with injuries consistent with foul play.

As a member of Teenage Head, Lewis was a vital piece of the band’s formation in the 1970s and a pioneering force for Canadian punk rock music.

“We are heartbroken and still trying to process the loss of our friend, bandmate and brother Gord Lewis,” wrote Teenage Head in a post on social media.

“Our hearts are with his family and all that knew and loved him. Gord was a force and an inspiration to many. You were taken from us far too soon.”
