Devil’s Punchbowl in Hamilton reopens after two weeks of closure

The Devil’s Punchbowl Conservation Area in Hamilton has reopened to the public following an unanticipated two-week closure.

A social media announcement from the Hamilton Conservation Authority (HCA) on September 3rd notes that the popular natural area – known for its scenic hiking and iconic waterfall – is once again available for public access, though the lookout remains closed.

With the lookout inaccessible for the time being, the HCA has reduced the parking fee at the Devil’s Punchbowl to $5 per day.

The closure at the Devil’s Punchbowl was due to a motorist driving their vehicle over the edge of the viewing platform, falling several hundred feet and killing the driver inside.

The incident, as reported by the Hamilton Police, occurred on the evening of August 19th.
