Hamilton residents ages 18+ can now book a bivalent COVID-19 vaccine

All Hamilton residents ages 18 and up are now able to receive a dose of the bivalent vaccine against COVID-19.

As of Monday, September 26th, eligible adults in Hamilton can book their appointment to receive this booster dose, which offers protection against the original COVID-19 strain as well as more strongly targeting Omicron variants.

While the recommended interval for this booster dose is 6 months (or 168 days) after a previous dose, individuals can also book an appointment that is at least 3 months (or 84 days) after their previous dose if desired.

Appointments can be booked through the city’s COVID-19 vaccine portal, or by calling public health’s COVID-19 vaccine hotline at 905-974-9848, option 7.

Appointments are available through participating Hamilton pharmacies, and locals are encouraged to call a pharmacy beforehand to book an appointment or check dose availability.

“With the start of the fall and winter respiratory illness season, it is especially important to make sure people stay up to date with their vaccines,” said Sylvia Jones, Ontario’s Deputy Premier and Minister of Health.

“COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters are the best tool to keep people healthy and out of hospitals, and to ensure Ontario’s economy stays open as the weather cools and people spend more time indoors.”
