The Fizz Sodas + Sandwiches relaunches as Smoke ‘n Candy

A popular downtown Southern-style sandwich and soda shop just got a facelift.

The Fizz Sodas + Sandwiches, known mainly for sizeable sandwiches piled high with smoked meats and house-made accompaniments, has rebranded as Smoke ‘n Candy, with a new menu leaning even more into the Southern BBQ aspect of The Fizz’s original offerings.

The lunch hot-spot, owned by Trevor and Amanda Hunt, has been nestled on King Street East in the International Village since opening barely two years ago. In that short time, The Fizz earned a hefty loyal patron base for its sandwiches and handmade Italian-style sodas.

The immense popularity of the brick & mortar shop convinced the Hunts to expand by launching a sister food truck, which itself is titled Smoke ‘n Candy and offers the same Southern deliciousness curbside. Recently, The Fizz’s original shop was renamed to Smoke ‘n Candy as well in an effort to unify the whole brand.

In the new expanded Smoke ‘n Candy menu, barbeque platters have been added that feature delicious house-smoked meats accompanied by side sauces, pickles, bread, potato salad, and mac ‘n cheese. Sandwich lovers shouldn’t worry though; delicious brisket, pulled pork, chicken, or sausage stacked between bread still dominates the menu, now served with house kettle chips, pickles, and citrus chipotle slaw.

And yes, those delicious hand-made sodas are sticking around, too.

You can find Smoke ‘n Candy at 217 King Street East at 11 am – 8 pm from Monday to Friday, and on Saturdays from 12 pm – 7 pm. The new menu is listed on their website.
