Hamilton vegan spot Lotus & The Bee has closed

Hamilton vegans will have one less local haunt to hit up, as Barton Village spot Lotus & The Bee has just announced that they have permanently closed up shop.
After posting to Instagram in November 2019 that the eatery would be closed temporarily due to “unforeseen circumstances,” The Lotus & The Bee followed up at the beginning of this year with a formal notice that the closure was now permanent.
“We’ve had such a joy feeding the Barton community our vegan eats! We have come to our end though and will not be opening our doors again,” said The Lotus & The Bee in their farewell message on social media, which received an outpouring of comments, support, and well-wishes from heartbroken Hamiltonians.
Filling the void of a completely plant-based café and lunch spot in the Barton Village area, Lotus & The Bee lasted just over a year in downtown Hamilton after opening their doors at the end of 2018.
The small, cozy eatery was known for light vegan bites like soups, salads, breakfast bowls, and more, adding itself to the growing list of vegan spots during the plant-based boom in Hamilton.
As the vegan scene in Hamilton continues to gain momentum, a popular spot like Lotus & The Bee will be sorely missed.
