New vegan restaurant Sookham has opened on Barton Street

Plant-based foodies on the hunt for local vegan eats have something new to look forward to, as brand new vegan restaurant Sookham has opened its doors in Hamilton.

Located on Barton Street near the corner of James North inside the former location of vegan bakery Lick the Whisk, Sookham features Indian-inspired, plant-based dishes that are also made primarily from organic and locally-sourced ingredients.

While the restaurant’s official opening was slightly delayed amid the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sookham has thankfully opened to feed the vegan masses with temporary curb-side pickup and delivery models in place until their sit-down venue – which will also function as a meditation space –  is able to open for public access.

The mouth-watering launch menu looks to have something for every vegan food lover, from curry bowls to soups to burgers and beyond.

Highlights include the sattvic kitchari, which is a blend of basmati rice, quinoa, yellow mung dahl, and vegetables; the sweet potato sliders, topped with red onion, cilantro, and pomegranate; and the Sookham Burger, made with a masala-spiced vegan patty and loaded up with all kinds of classic toppings.

Vegan milkshakes, kombucha, and desserts round out the menu and show that Sookham is already coming in hot with a stacked list of delicious offerings. Go get your fix, Hamilton!

Sookham is now open for curb-side pickup and delivery only. Check out the menu and order online through their website.
