Dundas coffee shop Grupetto returns, rebrands as Cafe Domestique

Not long after one of the city’s hidden gem coffee shops announced it would be closing under the pressures of the COVID-19 pandemic, its ownership has announced the shop’s return in a new location and under a new name.

Grupetto, a cyclist-themed coffee shop in Downtown Dundas tucked away at the rear of the Horn of Plenty health food store, was an offbeat favourite for locals who are serious about their coffee.

Though the café had a consistently strong following, they just couldn’t keep up their usual operations amid COVID-19 and made the decision to close their previous location over three months ago.

But thankfully, the coffee shop has made a welcomed return to Dundas with a rebrand that harkens back to their origins in the city: though more recently known as Grupetto, the coffee shop is using this resurgence to return to their original Dundas roots as Café Domestique.

For the time being, Domestique is operating out of a small, eye-catching branded van parked at 11 Sydenham Street in Dundas until they take up residence in a new physical brick & mortar location for the coffee shop.

The Domestique coffee van will be open from 8 am to 4 pm daily to serve up your caffeinated favourites; including an Americano that, for my money, ranks as one of the best in the city. Go check it out and get your fix, Hamilton!

Café Domestique’s coffee van is open daily from 8 am to 4 pm at 11 Sydenham Street in Dundas. Check out their Instagram for more information.
