H’s Fried Chicken has opened in Hamilton

It seems that Hamilton is going through a bit of a fried chicken craze.

There are multiple hot spots in the city serving up amazing examples, and there have even been a couple of pop-ups this year that have given us the goods; including Pappy’s Fried Chicken, which had a short, immensely popular run out of Saltlick Smokehouse on James North and is currently on an indefinite hiatus.

Now, there’s a brand new spot in Hamilton serving up fried chicken sandwiches, and let me tell you: they’re pretty incredible.

It’s called H’s Fried Chicken, and it’s currently operating for delivery only via Skip the Dishes or UberEats. A side project of Harrison Hennick & Gabrielle Gwyn-Neumann’s ever-popular Nique Restaurant on James North, H’s Fried Chicken launched on Friday, July 31st and already had a stacked menu to satisfy local lovers of all things fried.

Serving up what they call “kids food for adults,” H’s Fried Chicken’s main attraction is their line of fried chicken sandwiches. From elevated takes on more traditional sandwiches to playful variations, these massive handhelds – made with top-quality chicken locally sourced from Fenwood Farms –  are tempting across the board.

Highlights of the menu include the ‘KFC’, which takes notes from Korean cuisine by topping that fried chicken sandwich with hoisin sauce, pickled daikon, scallions, kimchi, and sesame; and the ‘Flex Mex,’ which offers up a twist on Tex-Mex eats with salsa, sautéed onions, cabbage, cilantro, and lime crema.

For my first taste of H’s Fried Chicken last night (you know, for research) I went with a classic sandwich kicked up a couple of notches: ‘From Tennessee with Love,” which features Nashville hot fried chicken, iceberg lettuce, dill pickles, house ranch, and Jack Daniel’s honey.

The sandwich was stellar: the spicy kick of the fried chicken balanced brilliantly with the tang of the pickles, the sweetness of the honey, and the fresh crunch of the iceberg lettuce. Pair it with some perfectly seasoned, fresh-cut waffle fries, and you’ve got a meal that’s pretty hard to beat.

With only one day under their belts, H’s Fried Chicken is already poised to serve up fried chicken that ranks among Hamilton’s best. Check them out on Skip the Dishes or UberEats and taste for yourself!
