Cafe Domestique is opening soon in Dundas

In exciting news for coffee-obsessed Hamiltonians, one of the city’s best hidden gem coffee shops is about to make a welcomed return in Downtown Dundas.
That coffee shop is Café Domestique; a brand that has been kicking around in Dundas for over ten years in various iterations.
The café’s signage is up and renovations are well underway to get the place up and running in a new location at 102 King Street West in Dundas: the former location of another longstanding Dundas coffee spot, The Espresso Café, which closed up permanently at the end of last year.
With its origins as a cyclist-themed café serving incredible Italian-style coffee and espresso in the heart of Dundas, Café Domestique originally found its loyal following with cyclists and coffee lovers alike while operating out of an old house at 12 Millers Lane, tucked away just behind the main Downtown Dundas strip.
A half-decade stint in that location came to an end, but the business didn’t. Rebranding as Grupetto, the coffee shop jumped to a couple of locations before settling down for a bit at the rear of Dundas health food store The Horn of Plenty.
However, amid the struggles brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, Grupetto shut the doors of its hidden Horn of Plenty location with no immediate public plans to reopen.
Thankfully, though, the café is back and reverting to its original name of Café Domestique; now stylized with two i’s as ‘Cafe Domestiique,’ to represent the second iteration of the coffee brand under this particular name.
With the new brick & mortar location swiftly taking shape, Domestique is soon to become an exciting fixture of the main King Street West strip and keep serving up those killer Americanos.
For those who can’t wait for the official opening, good news: luckily, in the interim, Café Domestique has set up shop in a bright red coffee van parked just behind the Bank of Montreal at King West and Sydenham Street.
