After waiting and watching the chicken sandwich wars in the U.S., Popeyes is finally releasing its famous chicken sandwich in all 230 Canadian locations on September 14th.
With five locations in Hamilton, the new sandwich is now available throughout the city for those who have been dreaming of it.
It has an all white meat, fried chicken breast that’s marinated in an authentic blend of Louisiana seasoning, then hand battered and breaded in Popeyes buttermilk coating, served on a warmed brioche burn with a pickle and mayonnaise.
Popeyes tested the sandwich at select locations in Alberta and Southern Ontario in advance of the nationwide launch.
Back in August of 2019, Popeyes released their chicken sandwich in American stores starting a war among fast food chains in the U.S.
After Popeyes’ release, American chain Chick-fil-A teased the brand for saying they copied their traditional sandwich that made the restaurant so popular across the country.

The popularity of Popeyes chicken sandwich also launched a few other fast food restaurants to try out chicken sandwiches on their menu.
Now, Canadian fans of the Louisiana-based fried chicken restaurant have been rejoicing on social media posting photos of them wearing hats that say “The Legend is Here.”
Some super fans were able to get onto the list for an early taste of the sandwich. The online promotion had people vie for a limited spot on a list where they got to enjoy the sandwich on September 12th.
