A delicious spot for Jamaican food is opening on James North

A hidden gem within the Hamilton City Centre food court is set to open a new location in its own digs along James Street North.

True to Roots, specializing in authentic Jamaican and Caribbean cuisine, has been serving up classic comfort food dishes such as jerk chicken, oxtail, curry goat, and fried chicken for years as part of the subterranean food court inside Hamilton City Centre attached to Jackson Square.

However, Hamiltonians who have walked along James North recently may have noticed new signage up at 56 James Street North, between Rebecca Street and King William: a clear indicator that True to Roots is making the move onto the main strip!

Whether or not this means the City Centre location is closing up remains to be seen, but either way, Hamilton food lovers should be thrilled to see one of the city’s rare authentic Jamaican offerings land in a more prominent spot; especially if True to Roots’ reviews on Google are any indication.

“We almost gave up on Caribbean in Hamilton, but True to Roots is a real gem for the city,” reads one glowing testimonial.
