It’s back! Hamilton’s playful nose-to-tail restaurant, which closed its original John South location back in 2019, has opened its brand new iteration on James Street North and is serving up sumptuous eats for takeaway.
Rapscallion & Co., a restaurant by local hospitality group The Other Bird marrying the best of past foodie favourites Rapscallion and Two Black Sheep, has taken up residence in the former Ventura’s Signature Restaurant in the heart of the James North strip.
Though the restaurant was expected to open in full last spring, the COVID-19 pandemic naturally brought those plans to a temporary halt, leaving locals anticipating what inventive menu items would eventually be revealed by Chef Matt Kershaw.
However, though the dine-in restaurant space will not open to the public for the next while, Rapscallion & Co. has officially opened its doors to offer takeout and delivery of an eclectic array of elevated dishes that can be indulged in at home.
Following numerous exciting food pop-ups and one-off events to get Hamiltonians warmed up – including one that featured elevated takes on McDonald’s classics like Big Macs and chicken nuggets, and a current soup sale in support of Living Rock Ministries for Soupfest – Rapscallion & Co. has cemented a regular takeaway menu that features something for pretty much any palate and preference.
How amazing is this. Despite the extraordinary struggles of their own this year, #HamOnt’s restaurants are still supporting people in need in our community. #Soupfest2021 kicks off this week in support of @LivingRockHamON.

Current menu options include the decadent chicken liver brulee, a holdover from the original Rapscallion Restaurant making a welcomed return; a triple shrimp and lobster mac ‘n cheese that promises the best food coma ever; and a duck burger topped with classic burger toppings as well as some crispy duck skin for an added touch of awesome.
For those who aren’t into meat-eating, the menu also features options like a beet & squash shepherd’s pie with a potato goat cheese crust, and a halloumi tikka masala to tempt those looking for a little spice.
Drooling yet? Rapscallion & Co’s menu is available for pickup or delivery through UberEats from Wednesday to Sunday each week! Check them out on social media for more.
