Here are 12 Hamilton restaurants offering Valentine’s Day dinners

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and in any other year, Hamilton’s countless outstanding restaurants would be packed to the walls with love-struck couples sipping wine and snacking on the best bites the city has to offer.

Of course, this isn’t any other year; but that doesn’t have to mean Valentine’s Day is a bust in 2021.

Hamilton’s ever-resourceful restaurants, bars, and foodie favourites have adjusted to the current times while dining rooms are shuttered, offering special Valentine’s Day meals that can be picked up or delivered and enjoyed safely by romantic candlelight right at home.

Want the lowdown on who’s got the goods for Valentine’s Day in Hamilton this year? We’ve got you covered. Here are some of the most enticing offerings in town:

Brux House

Locke Street’s elevated kitchen and craft beer bar is known for its memorable takes on Belgian-style dishes, and their special Valentine’s Day Prix Fixe package is sure to make you swoon.

For $90, local couples will receive two special cocktails, two starters, two mains, and a white chocolate cheesecake dessert to share. Options for the main course include roasted lamb loin chops or herb butter steamed cod, but vegetarians will also be able to indulge with a house-made eggplant lasagna. Pre-order now on their website to arrange a pick-up date and time.

Valentino’s

Italian food is practically synonymous with Valentine’s Day, and local staple Valentino’s has got the perfect special on offer for the special occasion.

The popular spot for Italian eats has listed a number of couples packages featuring different dishes at different price levels, with each package including a choice of appetizer, pasta dish, and dessert. How could it get any better? Order your package on their website.

Bar Sazerac/Kitchen Island/Sushi on Fennell Collaboration

Local food blogger The Joyce of Cooking has teamed up with Bar Sazerac, Kitchen Island, and Sushi on Fennell to offer the ultimate Valentine’s Day package.

Couples who love sushi as much as they love each other will be treated to a Sushi on Fennell party tray with sushi rolls, sashimi, miso soup, and spring rolls. All of that deliciousness can be washed down with hibiscus gin fizz cocktails courtesy of Bar Sazerac, with Kitchen Island’s homemade chocolate fudge sweetening the deal. It’s $95 per couple, and can be ordered for pick up here.

Berkeley North

This King William Street mainstay has been named one of Canada’s top 50 restaurants for date night by OpenTable, and while locals can’t take in their intimate atmosphere this year, they can at least indulge in the exquisite food Berkeley North is known for.

Their $100 Valentine’s Day package features salad, two first courses, two second courses, and a dessert to share. Mushroom pasta, fried chicken sandwiches, shrimp tempura, and Berkeley North’s signature house-made cheese are just some of the options available to choose from. Pre-orders can be placed here.

Rapscallion & Co.

This playful nose-to-tail restaurant has got a whopper of a 3-course meal on offer for Valentine’s Day, opening with their famous chicken liver brûlée and a snow crab, asiago, and spinach dip with crostini as appetizers.

Then, couples can choose from a list of three entrees served in portions big enough for two, including a braised short rib with pomme puree, garlic roasted mushrooms, heirloom carrots, and hunter sauce; chicken supreme over cheese curd mashed potatoes with heirloom carrots and roasted garlic cream; or a beet & squash shepherd’s pie with goat cheese. The meal closes on sticky toffee pudding with rum butterscotch and chocolate truffles. Order yours here.

Namu

Dundas’ incredible spot for Asian fusion cuisine has prepared a special, enticing menu just for Valentine’s Day.

While not offered in a specific package, locals can order from a mouth-watering list of appetizers and mains including mushroom gnocchi, Moroccan chicken supreme, or a Cumbrae’s dry-aged New York steak. If you’ve had the food at Namu, you know these one-time offerings are not to be missed. Visit their website for more.

Victoria’s

Steak and seafood are staples of Valentine’s Day, and fine dining restaurant Victoria’s is one of Hamilton’s best spots to get your fix.

Their $120 special for two consists of four courses as well as cocktails, with starters of a yellowfin tuna tartare and butternut squash salad, followed by a choice of steak with two shareable sides and a crème brûlée for dessert. Sounds fantastic, right? Get your orders in here.

Seasoned Restaurant

One of the city’s lesser known gems – located right beside Theatre Aquarius on King William Street – brings decades of culinary skill to its delicious chef-driven menu, and their Valentine’s Day package sounds like an ideally delectable option.

For $49 per person, the package includes a gin cocktail, pink pear salad, a choice of house-made fettuccine pasta, and a chocolate mousse cake with strawberry coulis. Locals can pre-order their package on Seasoned’s website.

Earth to Table: Bread Bar

One of Hamilton’s longstanding spots for modern, farm-to-table cuisine has got one heck of a kit for Valentine’s Day.

Pre-orders can be placed here.

Salty Espresso

Locals likely know Salty Espresso primarily for their coffee offerings and delightful brunch menu, but the culinary talents in their kitchen have whipped up a delicious dinner bundle for your romantic weekend.

The reheat-ready package serves two and includes a duck & foie gras parfait with flax crackers; miso-baked Fogo Island cod with squash puree and rice; a medley of grilled cauliflower, red peppers, and green beans; and a homemade strawberry cheesecake for the grand finale. It’s all available for $80, and can be pre-ordered here.

Bon Temps

Unquestionably the biggest splurge on this list; but those who know Bon Temps know what caliber of carefully-crafted French-Canadian dishes will be in store here.

Bon Temps has crafted a very special four course menu for Valentine’s Day, including instructional videos for reheating and plating, for $310. The dishes are as high quality as it gets, with choices including squid ink lobster ravioli, wagyu beef strip loin, and butternut squash Parisienne gnocchi alongside selections of starters, soups, salads, and a chocolate ganache for dessert.
