Heads up, Hamilton foodies: a new purveyor of finely crafted Japanese eats has popped up in the city.
The new food venture, called Hanma Japanese Foods, is whipping up handmade Japanese comfort dishes such as sushi, onigiri, and katsu sandwiches using what appears to be primarily locally-sourced ingredients.
Some enticing examples of Hanma’s ever-changing offerings include an Ebi Katsu Sandwich, featuring fried shrimp, Japanese tartar sauce, and shredded cabbage slaw on a Martin’s potato roll; and the portable & snackable onigiri, which wraps wild sockeye salmon and rice in nori.
They also offer a varied, rotating selection of sushi rolls including yam tempura, asparagus, and spicy salmon.
Hanma Japanese Foods is not currently operating out of their own storefront; rather, their food takes up residence at the new Crown Point Market, a small shop for fine foods that opened recently on Ottawa Street.
