Pete & Kay Diner has closed its doors in Hamilton

One of Hamilton’s most underrated, homey diners has announced that it is bidding farewell.

Pete & Kay Diner, a quirky two-storey spot for homestyle breakfast, lunch, and dinner that became a relatively new fixture of Westdale Village, has announced via social media that they are officially closing their doors.

“Sad to say that we are not going to open our doors again for regular business,” said the restaurant in an Instagram post. “Thank you for your support.”

The diner was essentially a resurrection of James North’s dearly departed Jack & Lois, another well loved diner-style spot offering up playful comfort foods.

Setting up shop in the Westdale area just a few years ago in 2019, Pete & Kay Diner quickly became a beloved spot for neighbourhood residents and McMaster students alike, with sturdy takes on diner classics like Eggs Benedict, mac & cheese, soups, sandwiches, and beyond.

With the closure, Pete & Kay Diner is also selling off the contents of their spacious restaurant to those who want to grab some treasures like vintage furniture, artwork, chairs, restaurant equipment, antiques, houseware, and office supplies.
