Popular restaurant Mandarin just reopened its buffet in Hamilton

Though the pandemic made it pretty uncertain, it turns out the days of buffets may not be a thing of the past after all.

One of Hamilton’s most popular all-you-can-eat buffet restaurants, Mandarin, has announced that they have officially reopened the well-known Upper James restaurant for dine-in.

Mandarin, which has nearly 30 longstanding locations all over Ontario, has been serving up buffet-style Chinese-Canadian eats for decades.

The buffet chain has begun to gradually reopen its province-wide restaurants as of July 19th with a number of health & safety measures in place, starting with just a handful of locations including Brampton, Niagara Falls, and right here in Hamilton.

The structure will look a little different than diners may typically expect. From Mondays to Thursdays, the restaurants will be offering what they call Mandarin Small Eats, which will be more of a table-service experience featuring small plates of their classic dishes for anywhere from $1.99 up to $5.99 per dish.

But according to the announcement from the restaurant chain, those who want to go all-out at the buffet once again will be able to do so with their pick of Mandarin’s 150 food items from Friday to Sunday each week, as well as on select holidays.

All other Mandarin locations will continue to operate for take-out and delivery in the meantime, with further locations expected to reopen for dine-in service in the coming weeks.
