Taylor’s Tea Room in Dundas is permanently closing its doors

One of Dundas’ favourite family-owned fixtures has announced that it will be closing its doors permanently.

Taylor’s Tea Room, which has been a prominent piece of the Downtown Dundas strip for decades, announced via social media that their adorably quaint tea room is shutting down after over 28 years of serving up high tea, fresh pastries like scones and tarts, and English-style dishes made with locally sourced ingredients.

“On July 18th we will be saying goodbye to our beloved Taylor’s Tea Room,” reads the message on social media. “On behalf of myself (Brayden), my mom Lorraine, and my sister Nicole, it has been our family’s privilege to be a welcomed part of this community for over 28 years.”

The news was met with heartbreak by the Hamilton and Dundas communities, with over 150 people commenting on Taylor’s Tea Room’s social media post to wish them the best, express their sadness over the closure, and share their favourite memories of this beloved local institution.

Taylor’s Tea Room will be bidding farewell with a small celebration in their back parking lot on July 18th from 10 am to 2 pm.

The tea room will be selling off some of their chinaware and other knickknacks that day, with proceeds from teacups and saucers sold going to their favourite local charities.
