One of Hamilton’s homey, longstanding British pubs has just announced that it will be permanently closing its doors after almost 3 decades of serving the city.
The Cat ‘N’ Fiddle, located at 174 John Street South, has long been a popular, lived-in local haunt for Hamiltonians to grab a pint, some comforting pub food, and even take in some live music on most nights.

The pub announced their closure via social media on Tuesday afternoon, which was met with heartbreak from hundreds of local regulars who swarmed the comments with well wishes and some of their favourite memories.
“It’s with a heavy heart that after 28 years we are announcing our permanent closure. Our last day will be Sat, Oct 2nd,” wrote The Cat ‘N’ Fiddle on Facebook.
“We hope that we have provided a venue for many special moments and memories for those that have entered our establishment. Many friendships have been formed. We want to thank all of our staff, the musicians and customers that have supported us throughout this endeavour.”
