A beloved longstanding pizza place has announced it is closing its doors after over four decades of serving up fresh, old-school pies in Hamilton.
Mattina Pizzeria, located at 104 Cannon Street East, has been a fixture of Hamilton’s food scene for more than 40 years with its menu of handmade pizzas, pastas, and chicken wings alongside some Portuguese fare such as Bitoque and Bifana sandwiches.

But sadly, the pizzeria shared news on Sunday via social media that there are permanently closing up shop, effective immediately.
“We wanted to thank our loyal customers for all the continuous support throughout the years,” wrote Mattina Pizzeria on Instagram. “It’s been a slice.”
Comments readily flooded in from heartbroken locals sharing their well-wishes and lamenting the loss of what was, for some, their favourite pizza in town.
