Wimpy’s Diner on Main West is moving to a new location in Hamilton

One of Hamilton’s most prominent greasy spoon diners is closing one door and opening another.

Wimpy’s Diner, a Canadian ‘60s style diner chain with a handful of locations in the Hammer, is probably best known for its 24-hour location that has been a fixture at 405 Main Street West for nearly a decade after first opening in 2012.

Passersby have likely noticed that particular Wimpy’s location has been permanently closed up; but not to worry, because it’s simply making the move to a different location in the city.

With a condo development in the works for the original site, Wimpy’s is setting its sights farther west on a new home at 875 Main Street West, directly across the street from Westdale Secondary School in a restaurant space that previously held establishments like Kelsey’s and Ye Olde Squire.

The new location is currently under renovations, but is gearing up to open as soon as possible to bring more of that classic, unpretentious diner-style menu to Hamilton!

Wimpy’s Diner has other existing locations around Hamilton as well; one on Fennel Avenue at Upper Gage, another at Barton Street East, another on Queenston Road, and locations in Ancaster on Wilson Street and Burlington on Guelph Line.
