Three Hamilton restaurants named among the 100 most romantic in Canada

A trio of Hamilton’s most popular restaurants have received top honours on a new list of Canada’s top 100 most romantic restaurants.

The list, published annually by restaurant reservation platform OpenTable, arrives just in time for Valentine’s Day as it spotlights restaurants across Canada known for their incredible food, intimate atmosphere, and romantic vibes.

Generated by diner reviews collected between January 2021 and December 2021, the top 100 list excitingly features three Hamilton favourites: Berkeley North, Rapscallion & Co, and Victoria’s Steak & Seafood.

Berkeley North is no stranger to lists of Canada’s best restaurants. This intimate West Coast-style kitchen on King William Street thrives on enticing share plates like lamb spring rolls or their famous fresh cheese; entrees like fresh pastas and seafood dishes; and a menu of craft beer, wine, and handmade cocktails.

Rapscallion & Co. is a local favourite for nose-to-tail cuisine, moving from its original cozy digs on John South to the gorgeous former home of Ventura’s Restaurant on James North, serving up Cheff Matt Kershaw’s dishes like the iconic chicken liver brulee, lobster & shrimp mac ‘n cheese, and more than a few playful preparations of duck.

Victoria’s has become a local destination for modern fine dining, housed inside of an elegant-yet-approachable dining room with a menu of shareable appetizers, salads, and quality cuts of steak and seafood that are pretty perfect for a special night out.

Though plenty of Hamilton restaurants would also be deserving of a spot on the list, it’s exciting to see our city’s food scene get so much attention on a national scale!
