This spot for vegan comfort food in Hamilton is closing

A popular plant-based eatery in Hamilton has announced that it is permanently closing its doors.

Sweet Beets, located on Ottawa Street North, was a local vegan favourite for comfort foods like burgers, pizzas, sandwiches, ice cream, and baked goods; all made without any meat or dairy and completely nut-free.

However, unable to secure a new lease at their current location, Sweet Beets made the sad announcement that their restaurant will be closing up shop as of August 18th, 2022.

“We are so happy and grateful for all of our guests over the years and the connections that we have made in the community,” wrote Sweet Beets in a post on Instagram.

“Your support has meant the world to us and we are sad that it’s time to say goodbye. Thank you again for your continued support and we hope to see you one last time before we close.”

What’s next for Sweet Beets, and whether or not the restaurant plans to reopen in a new location at some point, remains to be seen.

But locals can pay them a visit at 295 Ottawa Street North one last time before they officially close on August 18th.
