Hamilton’s Roma Bakery will see massive $4M expansion

Hamilton’s iconic Roma Bakery & Deli is celebrating 70 years as a local staple and has announced major plans for a $4 million expansion to their existing facility.

The family-run, Barton Street bakery – known best for their simple-yet-unconventional slab pizzas that have been a fixture of local gatherings for decades – will be expanding and modernizing their facility to increase capacity as well as add new office infrastructure.

That welcomed news indicates that Roma Bakery is looking to their future in the long-term and plans to keep pounding out pizzas and more well beyond this landmark 70 year in business.

Run by the Di Filippo family since the business’ origins in 1952 as a small-scale bread delivery service, Roma Bakery & Deli does much more than their famous slab pizzas: they also offer a wide variety of house-baked breads, desserts, imported cheeses, deli meats, sandwiches, prepared meals, and much more.

The forthcoming expansion, which will effectively double the size of Roma’s facility, is expected to begin later this year and be completed by Fall 2023.
