Delicious Hamilton bakery opens its own shop

A new artisanal bakery for all kinds of tempting treats has opened its own brick & mortar location in Hamilton.

Kitchen Island has been baking delicious bites like croissants, scones, loaves of bread, breakfast buns, cookies, and much more in Hamilton for a short while, and this is their first foray into opening a physical location.

Located at 811 King Street East in the front of the Kitchen Collective, Kitchen Island is headed by Alex Shimshon, who first honed her craft as a chef and baker in restaurants in Tel Aviv.

She ended up coming to Canada, where she studied Baking and Pastry Arts at George Brown College and worked in popular Toronto spots like Sud Forno and Café Neon.

Now, Shimshon brings her talents for ingredient-focused baking to Hamilton’s food scene, serving up a rotating selection of sweet and savoury baked goods out of this new retail shop and café.

Kitchen Island had its soft opening this past weekend, and will be back serving pastries and coffee at 811 King Street East this coming Thursday, November 10th to Saturday, November 12th from 8 am to 3 pm!
