Local performer debuts new show about home in Hamilton

“Hamilton is Home.” It’s an unofficial slogan for the city proclaimed proudly by the people who live here. But what does ‘home’ really mean? What exactly makes a place like Hamilton home?

These are questions explored, through song and story, in local performer Vicktoria Adam’s new show, premiering at Hamilton’s Staircase Theatre in December.

There’s No Place Like Home, directed by Luke Brown, is a musical cabaret about a topic that has particular resonance for Adam. “I’ve moved so much in my life, and the concept of home has changed and shifted since I grew up,” she explains.

Running on December 10th and 17th in The Staircase’s intimate Bright Room space, the cabaret is produced by Hamilton’s own Flat Earth Global, the company behind recent local hits such as Mary’s Wedding, co-produced with Rook’s Theatre; and Strange & Unusual, featuring acclaimed magician Nicholas Wallace.

The fact that There’s No Place Like Home is being presented so close to the holidays is probably not a coincidence; a show that explores what it means to call a place ‘home’ promises the warm ‘n fuzzy feelings that the holiday season is meant for. This musical cabaret might just be the perfect antidote to the dreaded December chill, so get your tickets to The Staircase for this limited two-performance-only run before it sells out!

There’s No Place Like Home, written & performed by Vicktoria Adam and produced by Flat Earth Global, runs at The Staircase Theatre on December 10th and 17th at 8 pm. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased in advance here.
