Hamilton local Cameron Caton stopped traffic on Sunday as he was dressed as Elvis Presley and singing to locals in a city neighbourhood.
The singer and impersonator has been touring the city collecting non-perishable food and monetary donations for local food banks.
The Cameron Singing From His Van’s “Helping Hands” Tour of Hamilton has been making stops in local communities to perform some classics by the King.
Caton has been collecting donations for the Good Shepherd Centre and food banks in Hamilton since April, and posting photos on his Instagram showing boxes of non-perishable food donated by Hamilton residents.
On Mother’s Day weekend, Caton posted that he collected six bins of non-perishable food donations and over $500 of monetary donations.
Caton has also been asking for people to send photos and videos of him performing as Elvis. Videos posted on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube show the performer all over Hamilton singing to people on their doorstep or on their lawn. One video shows Elvis almost getting hit by a motorcycle on Sunday after performing in the street.
The Helping Hands tour appeared to have started at the beginning of April after Caton stopped outside Doug Gilmour’s house to serenade the retired hockey player and his wife.
My wife had a great surprise for our street today. She brought our friend Cameron to perform for our neighbours. Social distancing of course, what a great way to start the weekend. Stay healthy, safe & positive everyone#socialdistancing #COVID2019 #besafe #staypositive pic.twitter.com/utYnseOJ2o

Although the Elvis impersonator is providing a helping hand and may be a bright spot during quarantine, it’s still important for residents to practice the social distancing guidelines outlined by the provincial government regarding crowds of people.
