This new movie about David Bowie was filmed all over Hamilton

Hamilton continues to make starring appearances in a huge amount of high-profile film & television productions, from recent Netflix hits like The Queen’s Gambit and The Umbrella Academy, to forthcoming Disney feature Sneakerella.

Now, Hamilton can add a biopic about Ziggy Stardust himself – David Bowie – to the list with a brand new feature film that was shot in multiple Hamilton locales.

The film, titled Stardust, takes place in 1971 and follows iconic singer-songwriter David Bowie through the earlier days of his prolific career and his creation of his alter ago, Ziggy Stardust.

Starring Johnny Flynn as Bowie with a supporting cast featuring Jena Malone and comedian Marc Maron, Stardust uses multiple locations here in Hamilton as stand-ins for Los Angeles as well as London, England.

Prominent locations used in the film include LiUNA Station, Carmen’s Banquet Centre, Breezy Corners Restaurant, The Admiral Inn on Dundurn Street, The Germania Club, and the Studio Theatre inside Hamilton Place.

Locals can also catch noteworthy appearances from heritage landmarks such as the oft-used Scottish Rite as well as the famous Auchmar Mansion.

As you can tell, Stardust isn’t just ripe with biographical insight on one of music’s most singular and iconic artists; it is also ripe with plenty of appearances of the Hammer.

Stardust is now playing in select theatres and available to rent on some streaming platforms.
