Hamilton band Arkells creates free virtual fireplace for the holidays

One of Hamilton’s favourite rock bands, Arkells, has been spreading cheer all year long.

Determined to keep spirits high during a very difficult 2020, the band has been doing everything from dropping brand new music, to teaching budding musicians their songs via Instagram Live, to surprising a special McMaster graduate with an acoustic set on their front lawn.

Now, as 2020 comes to a close, Arkells have released a virtual fireplace via their YouTube channel, accompanied by their complete Campfire Chords album which was released earlier this year and features acoustic takes on the band’s most popular tunes.

Over the holidays, locals can pull up the virtual fireplace on their TV or laptop screens and bask in the simulated warmth of a roaring, cozy fire while jamming to some humble renditions of Arkells’ best bangers.

It’s the band’s final gift to the masses for 2020; one that drives home how much Arkells cares about their community in Hamilton and beyond.
