Hamilton-set CBC television series Strays premieres this week

Hamilton plays a big role in a brand new comedy series premiering this week on CBC.

The new television series is called Strays and not only is it set right here in Hamilton, it also functions as a spinoff to one of CBC’s most enduringly popular series: Kim’s Convenience.

Though Kim’s Convenience came to a blindsiding early end on CBC – a move that remains a topic of controversy – this new series takes one of the show’s peripheral characters and plants her into her own narrative.

Premiering on Tuesday night, Strays follows Kim’s favourite Shannon Ross as she upends her roots in Toronto and makes the move to Hamilton to start a new life and a new job at the fictionalized Hamilton East Animal Shelter.

The series – created by Kevin White of Kim’s Convenience and Schitt’s Creek fame – features the winning Nicole Power reprising her role as Shannon alongside the talents of Nikki Duval, Frank Cox-O’Connell, Tina Jung, Tony Nappo, and many others.

Strays premieres on CBC Television on Tuesday, September 14th at 8:30pm.
