Weekend events in Hamilton June 9-10 2018

Looking for something to do this weekend? Look no further. We’ve found a wide range of events across the city for all ages and interests to enjoy.

Here’s what’s happening in Hamilton this weekend.

Saturday

Concession Street Fest

The annual Concession Street Fest is back and better than ever. This year’s festival will include live music, street performers, vendors, sidewalk sales, crafts, and many kids’ activities. Put your sunscreen on and enjoy one of the best festivals of the summer.

Concession Street will be closed between Upper Wentworth and East 25th for the festival. The free event takes place between 10 am and 8 pm.

Opening Day at Wild Waterworks

Ready to beat the heat? Wild Waterworks officially opens this weekend for the 2018 season. With a wave pool, lazy river, and six water slides to choose from, there’s plenty of ways to keep cool and have fun at the water park.

Soul Saturday

Summer means plenty of great outdoor events to mix and mingle with other Hamiltonians. This Saturday, King William Street is hosting Soul Saturday – a lively block party that is sure to be fun for the entire family. There will be live soul music, art demonstrations, a kid’s zone, and even a Collective Arts beer garden.

Visit King William Street between 1 pm to 9 pm to enjoy this free experience.

Mobster Ball 2018

The 1920s to 1940s were roaring, exciting times despite the existence of prohibition. If you want to experience a speakeasy and have a taste of what these eras were like, check out Mobster Ball 2018. This party is hosted by Haunted Hamilton and will feature cash bars, live music, dancing, special performances, and much more.

Mobster Ball 2018 will take place at The Spice Factory – an authentic speakeasy from Hamilton’s past. Doors open at 8 pm and performances start at 9 pm. Tickets are available online.

Charity Walks

This weekend, there are at least three charity walks to partake in to raise money for different causes.

The first walk is Footsteps for Families – a walk and play-a-thon in support of Ronald McDonald House Charities. Their all-ages event takes place at Dofasco Recreation Park, with registration beginning at 10 am. It costs $25 to register and there must be a fundraising goal of $100.

The second walk is SunLife’s Walk to Cure Diabetes. Proceeds from this walk go toward much needed diabetes research. The walk begins at 10 am at Pier 4 Park. You can donate online.

The third walk is the Walk for Muscular Dystrophy. This event is more than just a regular fundraiser – this walk is fully accessible and the perfect event to come together and create a world of compassion and understanding. The walk takes place at Confederation Park and begins at 10 am.

Women’s International Soccer – Canada vs. Germany

Calling all soccer fans! Watch the Canadian women’s soccer team take on Germany this Sunday at Tim Hortons Field. This must-see soccer match is sure to be one for the books.

Kick off is at 2 pm. Tickets for the game are available online.

Chamber Music Hamilton

Let your mind explore the artistry of music while listening to Chamber Music Hamilton’s special presentation. At this concert, unique instruments will be played alongside an ensemble of traditional instruments, giving a new feel to music by famous composers. Some of the unusual instruments that will be featured are the theremin, therevox, and the musical saw.

The concert takes place at the Art Gallery of Hamilton and begins at 2 pm. Tickets are available online.

Gown & Gavel Plantnite

Want to get into gardening but don’t have a green thumb? Try your hand at building a succulent terrarium at Gown & Gavel‘s Plantnite. This 90 minute terrarium session is all about planting, getting creative and enjoying great patio weather.

Plantnite begins at 7 pm and tickets are available online.
