Weekend events in Hamilton September 29-30, 2018

Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Look no further. We’ve found a wide range of events in Hamilton for all ages and interests to enjoy.

Here’s what’s happening in the city this weekend.

Saturday

Applefest

What better place to kick off the first weekend of fall than at a festival?

Battlefield Park’s Applefest is an ode to fall-time harvest fun. With activities such as a pancake breakfast, games, pumpkin decorating and demonstrations, it’s the perfect event for the entire family. If you’re feeling adventurous and think you have what it takes, be sure to enter the Battlefield Bake-off!

Applefest takes place at Battlefield Park between 9 am and 4:30 pm. Admission to this all ages, outdoor event is completely free. Just remember that if you plan on visiting the Battlefield House Museum as well, admission will be $2.

Etsy Made in Canada

Are you looking for that perfect piece of fall décor or trying to get your Christmas shopping done early? You might find your perfect piece this weekend at Etsy’s Made in Canada craft sale.

Etsy Made in Canada is a national grassroots initiative celebrating crafters, collectors and artisans across Canada. This Saturday’s event will feature makers across many different mediums, such as artists, jewelers, bakers, designers, crafters and plenty more.

The Etsy Made in Canada event will take place at the Lincoln Alexander Centre between 10 am and 4 pm. Admission is $2 for adults while children are completely free. This is an all ages event.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats vs. BC Lions

It’s game day in Hamilton as the Tiger-Cats prepare to take on the BC Lions. Get outside, enjoy some Saturday afternoon football and cheer on your home team.

The game takes place at Tim Hortons Field and begins at 4 pm. Tickets are available online.

Black Rabbit Social Club Opens

From the mind of Manny Ferreira comes another business venture that is sure to become a Hamilton staple. Black Rabbit, an innovative adult social club, opens Saturday night.

Black Rabbit is Hamilton’s newest spot for fun nightlife. Promoted as an adult playground, the club will feature games, events, drinks, dancing and an arcade. As of right now, the club’s age is restricted to those 21 and older.

Black Rabbit is located at 107 King Street East and will be open from 6 pm to 2 am.

Sunday

Treble Hall Open House

Over the last couple of months, Treble Hall has received a serious interior makeover to make way for new apartments. If you’ve been wondering what’s been going on inside the building, wonder no more – you’ve been officially invited to Treble Hall’s open house.

Mix, mingle, view the new units and learn about the construction process at this open house. Who knows, you might decide you want to move in!

The open house takes place from 2 – 4 pm. To access Treble Hall, enter at the back of the building at the rear of Toast Wine Bar.

CNAF Autism Acceptance Walk

Join the Canadian National Autism Foundation this weekend for its ninth annual acceptance walk, run or ride.

It is estimated that one in every 68 children has been identified with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Foundations like CNAF help break stigmas surrounding autism and provide education on what ASD really is.

Registration for the walk starts at 11 am. After the walk, there will be activities, games, crafts, a magician and much more provided for the kids. A light lunch of pizza, fruits and veggies will be available for all participants.

The autism acceptance walk takes place at Willow Cove Pavillion at Confederation Park. To participate, you much have a pledge form – to receive a pledge form, e-mail cnaf_event.planning@hotmail.com .

A Taste of Warm Bread

Come and taste a little bit of history this Sunday at Westfield Heritage Village.

A Taste of Warm Bread will feature baking demonstrations and samplings throughout the village, allowing visitors to see, smell and taste a variety of delicious breads. Prepared using historic recipes and methods, these breads tell rich culinary stories of early Ontario.

The event takes place from 12:30 – 4 pm at the Westfield Heritage Village. Adult admission is $12 while youth admission is $6.50.

Family Fun Day at the AGH

Ever wondered what your child thinks about art? Come join the Art Gallery of Hamilton for it’s Family Fun Day and learn with your kids how to look at art carefully and think creatively.

Family Fun Day will begin with a miniature tour of the second floor exhibitions, followed by a hands-on art class. At the end of the class, your family will have a beautiful, one of a kind work of art to take home.

Family Fun Day takes place from 1 – 3:30 pm. Admission is free for AGH members while general admission costs $5 per family. It’s important to note that Family Fun Day does not include gallery admission.
