Weekend events in Hamilton October 13-14, 2018

Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Look no further. We’ve found a wide range of events in Hamilton for all ages and interests to enjoy.

Here’s what’s happening in the city this weekend.

Saturday

Hamilton Comic Con

Hamilton’s premiere pop culture event is back!

This year’s Hamilton Comic Con features three floors of vendors, artists, celebrities, memorabilia, attractions and so much more. Even Ryan Hurst from Sons of Anarchy will be there!

Hamilton Comic Con takes place between 10 am and 5 pm at the Hamilton Convention Centre. Tickets begin at $32.95 and are available for purchase online.

Stoney Creek Pumpkin Fest

With fall officially in full swing, it’s time to celebrate everyone’s favourite seasonal squash – pumpkins!

At Stoney Creek’s Pumpkin Fest, there’ll be live music, entertainment, horse and carriage rides, craft and food vendors and plenty of activities for the kids. Make sure to wear your Halloween costume – there’ll be tricking-or-treating and costume contests, too!

The Stoney Creek Pumpkin Fest takes place in downtown Stoney Creek on King Street East. The event runs from 10 am to 5 pm and is completely free. Be sure to bring your wallet though, as there’ll be plenty of goodies to purchase!

AGH BMO World Film Festival

The AGH BMO World Film Festival is Hamilton’s largest festival of international, independent and Canadian film. Each year, the festival screens the best in narrative and documentary feature films.

This Saturday the festival is screening nine different films across various venues, including the Lincoln Alexandre Centre, the AGH and St. John the Evangelist church.

You can catch these films from 12 – 10 pm at each of their respective venues. Single tickets cost $12 and are available for purchase online.

Spooky Double Feature: Casper and The Craft

Who’s ready to get spooked 90’s style with two unforgettable Halloween movies?

Hub of the Hammer is hosting a ghastly double feature, showing the timeless classic Casper and the slumber party hit The Craft.

This spooktacular screening takes place at The Zoetic, with Casper being screened at 6 pm and The Craft at 9:45 pm. Advance tickets are available online, costing $12 per film or $20 for the double feature. Tickets will also be sold at the door for $14 per film or $25 for both.

Hermitage Ruins Ghost Walks

Love learning about Hamilton’s ghostly history? The Hermitage Ruins ghost tour is sure to give you all of the spooky knowledge you crave.

Being in a forest surrounded by the ruins of a haunted mansion is the perfect opportunity for telling ghost stories. On the tour, you will learn about Ancaster’s famous legends, a doomed coachman, and local places for dark rituals.

The tour takes place at the Hermitage Ruins on Sulphur Springs Road. Adult tickets are $15 and are available online. This tour welcomes all ages, but be aware that some content may be considered mature. The tour is for entertainment purposes only.

Hamilton Comic Con

Bazaar of the Bizarre

With Halloween around the corner, it’s time to get spooky. If you love all things quirky and supporting local artists, you can’t miss this weekend’s Bazaar of the Bizarre.

This bazaar is a marketplace for all things different, interesting, macabre and out of this world. Long story short, this isn’t your grandma’s craft show. At the Bazaar of the Bizarre, you can expect to see a wide variety of independent artists, designers and crafters.

This event takes place from 11 am to 7 pm at The Spice Factory. Admission to this bazaar is completely free, but be sure to bring your wallet to pick up some ghoulish goodies.

AGH BMO World Film Festival

Art Bus Studio Tour

Feeling creative and ready to learn? Join the Hamilton Arts Council for their October Art Bus Studio Tour!

At this month’s edition of Art Bus, riders will be visiting the studio of local artist and creator Dave Hind.

The Art Bus departs the Seedsworks Urban Offices at 12:30 pm sharp with the tour returning at 4:30 pm. General admission for this tour is $18, while Hamilton Arts Council members can attend for $12. Tickets can be reserved by e-mailing Ned@hamiltonartscouncil.ca
