Weekend events in Hamilton October 20-21, 2018

Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Look no further. We’ve found a wide range of events in Hamilton for all ages and interests to enjoy.

Here’s what’s happening in the city this weekend.

Saturday

Halloween Enduro 200

Who’s feeling the need for speed? Every October, Flamboro Speedway hosts their Halloween Enduro Race – a fun treat for racing fans of all ages.

Come help choose the best Halloween themed decorated car and stay for the demolition derby. See which driver can outwit, outlast and outdrive the competition to take home the first place prize of $5,000.

This event opens at three different intervals, with the pit opening at 9 am, the front gates opening at 1 pm and the real fun beginning at 4 pm. More information on this spooky race is available online.

AGH BMO World Film Festival

The AGH BMO World Film Festival is Hamilton’s largest festival of international, independent and Canadian film. Each year, the festival screens the best in narrative and documentary feature films.

This Sunday, the festival is screening seven different films between the Lincoln Alexandre Centre and the Art Gallery of Hamilton.

You can catch these films from 12 – 10:30 pm. Single tickets cost $12 and are available for purchase online.

Hamilton Zombie Walk

Hamilton’s Zombie Walk is back! Look dead, look scary, get yourself dressed up and unburied.

This year, Hamilton Public Library will be hosting a Zombification Station where people can get their make-up done for the event, all for the cost of a non-perishable food donation. The Zombification Station will open at 10 am and close at 12 pm.

Hamilton’s zombies will meet at Gore Park for 12 pm and the walk will begin at 1 pm. This is an all ages event and is free to participate.

Diwali at City Hall

Looking to expand your knowledge, friend circle and get to know your fellow Hamiltonians? Come on over to Hamilton City Hall this Saturday to celebrate Diwali.

Diwali is a national festival in India that is celebrated by everyone, regardless of faith. This fun and inclusive event includes guest speakers, dancers, singers and story-telling.

Diwali at City Hall takes place from 1 – 5 pm. Diwali is a family-friendly event that’s proud to be non-discriminatory and welcoming of all faiths, backgrounds and cultures. Admission is free.

5th Annual Kate Andrus Pumpkin Prowl

Can’t spend Halloween night with the important children in your life? The Pumpkin Prowl is a great alternative for the big day itself.

Pumpkin Prowl was created for families facing separation, busy work schedules and other reasons why one parent or guardian can’t spent Halloween with their loved one. By creating a second Halloween, families have to opportunity to spend a spooky day out with their kids.

Houses participating in Pumpkin Prowl will be located along parts of Belview, Kensington and Rossylyn between Campbell and Barton. They will have flyers in their windows with a pumpkin on it, letting trick-or-treaters know they can knock on their door.

The Pumpkin Prowl takes place between 6 and 8 pm, beginning at Belview Park. More information is available on the Pumpkin Prowl website.

Springridge Farm Harvest Festival

Looking for a fun day trip outside of the city? Travel up to Milton for Springridge Farm’s Harvest Festival.

Embrace the autumnal vibes and enjoy a day of fun geared towards the entire family. At the Harvest Festival there will be a professional puppet show, wagon rides, giant corn trails, farm animals, barbecue, baking, fall décor and so much more!

The Harvest Festival takes place at Springridge Farm in Milton, Ontario. The festival runs from 10 am to 4 pm. Admission is $13 and all ages are welcome.

Pumpkin Sunday

If you’re a pumpkin lover, you don’t want to miss out on Westfield Heritage Village’s special Pumpkin Sunday.

This Sunday, enjoy pumpkin-themed games, activities and crafts throughout the village, as well as participate in baking and cooking demonstrations. There’ll be plenty of photo opportunities throughout the village, especially for the little ones, so make sure to take plenty of pictures!

Pumpkin Sunday takes place from 12:30 – 4 pm at Westfield Heritage Village. Admission begins at $6.50 and entrance tickets are available online.

SalsaSoul Sunday!

Are you ready to dance the night away at this month’s Latin dance social? Strut your stuff on down to The Spice Factory and enjoy this fun and friendly social.

SalsaSoul Sunday runs from 7 to 10:30 pm. Beginner dance lessons start at 7 pm and the dance social begins at 7:45 pm. Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door.

Fleetwood Mac Tribute Show

Rumours of Fleetwood Mac, the world’s finest tribute to Fleetwood Mac, is coming to Hamilton this Sunday. The show will be celebrating 40 years of the iconic Rumours album.

Encompassing nearly five decades of legendary music and channelling the spirit of Fleetwood Mac, Rumours of Fleetwood Mac offer a unique opportunity for fans, both old and new, to rediscover the songs that have ensured Fleetwood Mac’s place as one of the most loved bands of all time.

The concert takes place at FirstOntario Concert Hall and begins at 8 pm. Tickets start at $58 and are available for purchase online.
