Weekend events in Hamilton October 27-28, 2018

Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Look no further. We’ve found a wide range of events in Hamilton for all ages and interests to enjoy.

Here’s what’s happening in the city this weekend.

Saturday

Pet & Treat Walk

Waterdown Village merchants are celebrating Halloween this Saturday and are asking your kids and pets to join in on the fun!

Bring your little ones and furry friends – dressed up in comstume, of course! – and receive treats from participating businesses. There’ll also be special children’s entertainment and fun activities throughout the village.

The Pet Treat & Walk takes place in Waterdown Village from 1 – 4 pm. It’s completely free to participate in this Halloween-themed event.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats vs. Ottawa Redblacks

It’s game day in Hamilton as the Tiger-Cats prepare to take on the Ottawa Redblack. Get outside, enjoy some Saturday afternoon football and cheer on your home team.

The game takes place at Tim Hortons Field and begins at 4 pm. Tickets are available online.

Candlelit Spirit Walk

Join the folks over at Erland Lee Museum for a spooky after-hours tour.

Guided by lantern light, hear about the history of the Erland Lee home and the surrounding area, as well as stories of unexplained occurrences. Keep your eyes open and ears alert on this tour – you never know which spirits are out there.

The Candlelit Spirit Walk takes place at Erland Lee Museum at 7 pm. Tickets are $15 per person. It’s important to note that this tour is for entertainment purposes only.

Steel City Jazz Festival

If you’re a big jazz fan, you can’t risk missing out on this year’s Steel City Jazz Fest.

Running for six years, Steel City Jazz Fest offers jazz fans an incredible series of concerts celebrating the genre. This Saturday’s concert features Jazz Connection Big Band – this 17 piece jazz ensemble is guaranteed to blow you away!

Steel City Jazz Festival takes place at The Music Hall at 8 pm. Tickets are $20 for the general public at $15 for students. Tickets are available for purchase online.

Zombie Prom at the AGH

Dig up a date and come to the Art Gallery of Hamilton’s first ever Zombie Prom!

Zombie Prom is a ghastly, campy blend of nostalgic high school memories and the living dead. Dance the night away with DJ Orito, watch a horror film, get your photo taken at a photo booth and visit the zombie-fying station to up your costume game!

This jam-packed night takes place at the AGH and is for those 19+. Doors open at 8 pm with tickets available online.

Sunday

Hamilton Fall Garden & Mum Show

Hamilton’s annual mum show is an amazing display created by some of Hamilton’s finest horticulture staff. This year’s display features of 200 varieties of Chrysanthemums and more than 75,000 blooms!

This year’s theme is Once Upon a Toy. While word of what incredible toys and creatures will come to life through Chrysanthemum arrangements has been kept hush, we do know that Hamilton’s favourite dog Ralph will be making an appearance.

The Fall Garden & Mum show takes place at the Gage Park Greenhouse. Children and senior’s admission price is $6 while adults can enter at $7. This event runs from 9 am to 7 pm, is wheelchair accessible and great fun for all ages.

Hamilton Vintage Community Pop Up

The Hamilton Vintage Community is having their second pop up this Sunday and you don’t want to miss it!

There’ll be over 40 vintage vendors and vintage inspired makers – whether you’re shopping for holiday presents or something special for yourself, you’re sure to find it here! The pop up will also feature tunes by DJ Donna Lovejoy, sweets and treats from Cherry Birch General and confections from Sweet and Simple Co..

The Hamilton Vintage Community Pop Up takes place at the Spice Factory from 10 am to 4 pm. Admission is free and all ages are welcome. Happy shopping!

October Family Fun Day at the AGH

Ever wondered what your child thinks about art? Come join the Art Gallery of Hamilton for it’s Family Fun Day and learn with your kids how to look at art carefully and think creatively.

Family Fun Day will begin with a miniature tour of the second floor exhibitions, followed by a hands-on art class. At the end of the class, your family will have a beautiful, one of a kind work of art to take home.

Family Fun Day takes place from 1 – 3:30 pm. Admission is free for AGH members while general admission costs $5 per family. It’s important to note that Family Fun Day does not include gallery admission.

Halloween Spooktacular Concert

Spend a musical afternoon with family and friends for a one-hour full orchestra concert!

Enjoy fun Halloween favourites, dancers on stage for Thriller and other spooky surprises! Guests are encouraged to wear their favourite costumes because the musicians will be dressed up too!

The Halloween Spooktacular takes place at the McIntyre Performing Arts Centre at Mohawk College. The concert begins at 2 pm. Tickets range between $10 and $20 and are available for purchase online.

Hamilton Bulldogs vs. North Bay Battalion

It’s game day in Hamilton as the Bulldogs prepare to take on the North Bay Battalion. Come on down, enjoy some Saturday afternoon hockey and cheer on your home team.

The game takes place at FirstOntario Centre and begins at 4 pm. Tickets are available online.
