Weekend events in Hamilton October 6-7, 2018

Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Look no further. We’ve found a wide range of events in Hamilton for all ages and interests to enjoy.

Here’s what’s happening in the city this weekend.

Saturday

Rockton World Fair

The Rockton World Fair has finally arrived! After 166 years of operation, this fall fair has perfected the craft of autumnal entertainment.

The fair is absolutely packed with fun activities for the entire family to enjoy. There will be animal shows, contests, live entertainment, fair food, midway rides and so much more. No matter where you step inside the fair, there’s always something new and exciting to be discovered.

Rockton World Fair will be open from 9 am to 10 pm. Admission is $15 for adults, $13 for seniors and $7 for children ages 6-15. This is an all ages event.

Ancaster Community Family Fun & Charity Event

If you love charity, having fun and spending time with your family, you can’t miss Ancaster’s Community Family Fun and Charity Event.

At this year’s event, there will be a bouncy castle, face painting, yummy treats, giveaways and plenty of great prizes to be won! All proceeds from this event will go toward the Ancaster Community Food Bank.

The event takes place at Moorland Park and begins at 12:30 pm. Admission is free and is open to all ages, but a non-perishable donation per person is suggested. Feel free to register on Eventbrite.

Hamilton Bulldogs vs. Peterborough Petes

It’s game day in Hamilton as the Bulldogs prepare to take on the Peterborough Petes. Come on down, enjoy some Saturday afternoon hockey and cheer on your home team.

The game takes place at FirstOntario Centre and begins at 4 pm. Tickets are available online.

Downtown Hamilton Ghost Walks

Want a Halloween fright? Come feel some spooky vibes on this weekend’s Hamilton Ghost Walk.

This Saturday, tour the streets of the Core and enter into historic buildings that have some scary history behind them. Once you learn this side of Hamilton’s history, there’s no going back.

Tickets are $13.27 for adults and $6.19 for kids aged 13 and under. The tour begins at the Royal Connaught at 8:30 pm. You can book online here. This tour is for entertainment purposes only.

Sourdough and Pie Workshop

The world of sourdough is vast and magical – at this sourdough and pie workshop, you will learn the basics of baking with sourdough through hands on work.

Come spend the day with like-minded bakers, learning about all things sourdough. You will leave with some new-found knowledge and confidence to continue your own baking adventures at home. For attending the class, you’ll receive a recipe booklet, your own sourdough starter (with instructions to keep it alive) and a pie to bake at home. A light lunch will be provided.

The workshop takes place at West Avenue Cider at Somerset Orchards, running from 10 am to 3 pm. Admission is $99 per person. Tickets are available online.

MERIT Brewing Tour & Tasting

Have you ever wondered about how beer is made? Check out MERIT Brewing’s tour and tasting. As Hamilton’s only brewpub, MERIT truly knows their stuff.

At the tour and tasting, you will tour MERIT’s brewery, taproom and bottle shop, discover how beer is made and explore the intricate world of their beer and food. The tour and tasting includes 12oz beer samples and the tour lasts 30 minutes.

The tour takes place at MERIT brewing at 2 pm. Tickets cost $10 and are available for reservation online.

Scottish Rite of Freemasonry Ghost Walks

Step into the most mysterious address in Hamilton and go on a one-of-a-kind tour with the Scottish Rite Ghost Walk.

The fully indoor walk will take you on a tour of the 120-year-old castle-like mansion and its haunted rooms. Prepare to feel spooked; you may encounter the mansion’s strong woman spirit, night security and the haunted room that everyone avoids.

The ghost walk takes place at the Scottish Rite Cathedral. There are multiple tour times to choose from with each lasting approximately 80 minutes. Adult tickets are $16 and are available online. This is for entertainment purposes only.
