Weekend events in Hamilton December 1-2, 2018

Here’s what’s happening in the city this weekend.

Breakfast with Santa

When: Saturday December 1, 2018 from 8:30 – 11 am
Where: Christ Church
Admission: $6 for adults, $3 for children

The Greensville Optimists are kicking off the magical month of December by hosting breakfast with Santa.

Open to all ages, this event is a great way to get the entire family excited for the holiday season. Christ Church will also be accepting non-perishable food donations to give to local food banks.

Kids Christmas Program

When: Saturday December 1, 2018 at 12:30 pm
Where: Erland Lee Museum
Admission: $5 per child

Children ages 3-9 are invited to the Erland Lee Museum for a day of Christmas fun.

The day will be full of fun activities, exciting history and plenty of holiday spirit.

The Great Canadian Fiddle Holiday Show

When: Saturday December 1, 2018 at 8 pm
Where: Dundas Air Force Club
Admission: $20

Looking to feel some incredible holiday energy through fast-paced, Canadian music? Saturday night will be the perfect opportunity when the Dundas Air Force Club hosts the Great Canadian Fiddle Holiday Show.

The evening will include great fiddle music, step dancing and an old-fashioned Christmas carol sing-a-long.

Swiftmas Dance Party

When: Saturday December 1, 2018 at 10 pm
Where: Absinthe
Admission: $5 in advance

It’s a love story, baby just say yes!

If you’re a big fan of Taylor Swift, you can’t miss this special Swiftmas dance party. From Fearless to Reputation, songs will be pulled from Taylor’s entire discography to ensure you have the best tunes to dance and sing the night away. This event is 19+.

Picture Your Pet with Santa

When: Saturday & Sunday December 1 & 2 from 10 am to 3 pm
Where: Terra Garden Centre
Admission: $20 per photo

Santa Paws is coming to town! Bring your pet to have their photo taken with jolly Santa Paws and create lasting memories this holiday season. All pets are welcome!

This year Santa Paws has teamed up with the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA — every picture purchased supports the animals at the SPCA as well as in our communities.

Trains, Trains and more Trains

When: Sunday December 2, 2018 from 12 – 4 pm
Where: Hamilton Museum of Steam & Technology
Admission: Free

Join the Golden Horseshoe Live Steamers in the 1913 Electric Pump House for a steam train run day.

While this special event focuses on steam trains, there’s plenty of other things to do and see at the museum. Stay a while and build a bridge, try the bean bag coal toss and learn about simple machines.

Hamilton Bulldogs vs. Niagara IceDogs

When: Sunday December 2, 2018 at 2 pm
Where: FirstOntario Centre
Admission: Tickets are available online

Who’s ready for a good ol’ hockey game?

The Hamilton Bulldogs are taking on the Niagara Icedogs Sunday afternoon and it’s going to be an incredible game. Come on down, cheer on your home team and support hockey in Hamilton.

Burlesque 101

When: Sunday December 2, 2018 from 4 – 5 pm
Where: Creative Heart Space
Admission: $15 online

In this one hour beginner session, Miss Cadence will introduce a brief history of burlesque, discuss how to become involved with the modern burlesque community, teach basic burlesque movements and conclude with a Q&A Session.

Participants are asked to wear comfortable clothing that is easy to move in, as well as clean sneakers, dance flats or low heel character shoes. This class is open to all body types, ages (18+) and genders.

Glanbrook Community Tree Lighting

When: Sunday December 2, 2018 from 5:30 – 7 pm
Where: Binbrook Memorial Hall
Admission: Free

Come one, come all! Visit Binbrook Memorial Hall Sunday night to get into the festive spirit.

At the event, you can visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus and hear music from Mountainside Church and Bellmoore Elementary School choir. Guests are encouraged to enjoy the hot chocolate, snacks, the cookie walk and participate in Christmas storytelling.
