Weekend events in Hamilton November 3-4, 2018

Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Look no further. We’ve found a wide range of events in Hamilton for all ages and interests to enjoy.

Here’s what’s happening in the city this weekend.

Saturday

Society of Beer Drinking Ladies

Join the Society of Beer Drinking Ladies this weekend for their inaugural Hamilton Bevy!

The ladies will be featuring a sweet lineup of breweries from Hamilton and all across Ontario, food from Toast Wine Bar and Blend Catering, a Women’s Artisan Market and even axe throwing! A portion of ticket sales and all bar tips will be donated to the Canadian Women’s Foundation.

This fun and inclusive event takes place at Fairweather Brewing from 2 – 8 pm. Tickets are $35 and are available online. It’s important to note that this event is a safe space and is entirely open to LGBTQ+ individuals, the transgender community and to all who identify as women.

Hamilton Bulldogs vs. Kingston Frontenacs

Who’s ready for a good ol’ hockey game? The Hamilton Bulldogs are taking on the Kingston Frontenacs this afternoon and it’s sure to be a good time. Come on down, cheer on your home team and support hockey in Hamilton.

The game takes place at FirstOntario Centre and begins at 4 pm. Tickets are available online.

Hamilton Film Festival

Come on out this weekend and enjoy the 13 annual Hamilton Film Festival. This is Hamilton’s largest and longest running film festival, having roots that go back over 20 years!

The film festival celebrates the art of movie making from concept to completion. From budding filmmaker to Hollywood pro, they’re always working to move the film industry in Hamilton a little further each year.

This Saturday is the festival’s opening gala, featuring a fashion show, a 30-minute selection of short films and a concert. The gala takes place at The Zoetic and doors open at 6:30 pm. Tickets to the gala are $15 and are available online.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats vs. Montreal Alouettes

It’s game day in Hamilton as the Tiger-Cats prepare to take on the Montreal Alouettes. Get outside, enjoy some Saturday evening football and cheer on your home team.

The game takes place at Tim Hortons Field and begins at 4 pm. Tickets are available online.

Sunday

Hamilton Fall Garden & Mum Show

Hamilton’s annual mum show is an amazing display created by some of Hamilton’s finest horticulture staff. This year’s display features of 200 varieties of Chrysanthemums and more than 75,000 blooms!

This year’s theme is Once Upon a Toy. Not only will toys from Pixar’s Toy Story franchise come to life through Chrysanthemum arrangements, but Hamilton’s favourite dog Ralph will also be making an appearance.

The Fall Garden & Mum show takes place at the Gage Park Greenhouse. Children and senior’s admission price is $6 while adults can enter at $7. This event runs from 9 am to 7 pm, is wheelchair accessible and great fun for all ages.

Hamilton Film Festival

Sunday’s selection offers viewers the chance to see films from around the globe. The 12:30 pm screening is dedicated to Iranian short films and the 4 pm screening  focuses on sci-fi, paranormal, supernatural, and dystopian short films. Both screenings take place at The Zoetic and tickets are available online.

MERIT Brewing Tour & Tasting

Have you ever wondered about how beer is made? Check out MERIT Brewing’s tour and tasting. As Hamilton’s only brewpub, MERIT truly knows their stuff.

At the tour and tasting, you will tour MERIT’s brewery, taproom and bottle shop, discover how beer is made and explore the intricate world of their beer and food. The tour and tasting includes 12oz beer samples and the tour lasts 30 minutes.

The tour takes place at MERIT brewing at 2 pm. Tickets cost $10 and are available for reservation online.

Chamber Music Hamilton: Amici Ensemble

Chamber Music Hamilton is launching their 2018-2019 season this weekend with the Juno Award winning Amici, a clarinet, cello and piano ensemble with a 30 year history of concerts.

The ensemble will play pieces by greats such as Alexander von Zemlinsky, Beethoven and Nino Rota. While all artists are masters in their own right, you may be familiar with Nino Rota from his extensive career scoring films. Most notably, Rota scored The Godfather Trilogy.

The concert takes place at the Art Gallery of Hamilton, with doors opening at 1:30 pm and the concert beginning at 2 pm. Tickets range from $15 to $35 and are available online.
