Weekend events in Hamilton January 26-27, 2019

Here’s what’s happening in the city this weekend.

Kickathon

When: Saturday January 26, 2019 from 2:30 – 5 pm
Where: United Family Martial Arts
Admission: Free

The staff and students at United Family Martial Arts are throwing 10,000 kicks to raise money to help the homeless population in the Hamilton community.

The event will also include demonstrations, live magic, face-painting, and The Reptile Man. Donations are greatly encouraged.

Hamilton Bulldogs vs. Mississauga Steelheads

When: Saturday January 26, 2019 at 4 pm
Where: FirstOntario Centre
Admission: $22-26, available online

The Hamilton Bulldogs are back in action this Saturday afternoon.

Facing off against the Mississauga Steelheads, we expect this to be an incredible match. Come on down, cheer on your home team and support hockey in Hamilton.

Grease Sing Along

When: Saturday January 26, 2019 at 6 pm
Where: The Zoetic
Admission: $16, available online

The weather is chilly, but The Zoetic is here to take you to a warm summer of song as they bring back one of their most popular events: the Grease Sing-Along!

Experience the thrill of singing out your favourite songs with a theatre full of other Grease-lovers. There will be prop bags, signature drinks, and prizes for the best costumes!

Hamilton RV Expo

When: Saturday January 26 and Sunday January 27, 2019 at 10 am
Where: Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum
Admission: $10-12

The Hamilton RV Expo is the premiere regional RV show in Canada with the widest selection of the provinces most trusted RV dealers.

Come get inspired, get informed, be entertained and most importantly be ready to take advantage of great RV show specials and deals.

Spiders Alive!

When: Saturday January 26 and Sunday January 27, 2019 from 10 am – 5 pm
Where: Royal Botanical Gardens
Admission: $10-18

In Spiders Alive!, visitors can explore spider anatomy and evolutionary history, learn about their signature traits, and be surprised by little-known defence mechanisms.

In addition to the live spiders representing approximately 17 species, the exhibition includes larger-than-life models of spiders, a climbable spider model, and a 100-million-year-old fossil of a spider in limestone.

January Family Day Fun

When: Sunday January 27, 2019 at 1 pm
Where: Art Gallery of Hamilton
Admission: $5 per family

Ever wondered what your child thinks about art? Come join the Art Gallery of Hamilton for it’s Family Fun Day and learn with your kids how to look at art carefully and think creatively.

Family Fun Day will begin with a miniature tour of the second floor exhibitions, followed by a hands-on art class. At the end of the class, your family will have a beautiful, one of a kind work of art to take home. General gallery admission is not included.

Free Community Skate

When: Sunday January 27, 2019 from 1 – 4 pm
Where: FirstOntario Centre
Admission: Donation of a non-perishable food item

Looking to hit an indoor ice rink this season? You don’t want to miss out on the free community skate this weekend!

Community members are welcome to bring their friends and family for a fun filled afternoon in the Core. In addition to skating, a variety of local vendors will also be onsite creating a mini-market for skaters and visitors to enjoy.

In the Dead of Winter – Beer Dinner & Celebration

When: Sunday January 27, 2019 from 6:30 – 10 pm
Where: MERIT Brewing Company
Admission: $65, available online

Cold is only temporary and can easily be removed from one’s bones through many avenues. While a crackling fireplace or a blanket usually does the trick, Merit Brewing Company is hosting a beer dinner and celebration that is guaranteed to warm you up.

They’re taking five courses, five beers, and one magically warm night with friends around eight dinner tables. The dinner will be served family-style and will explore what it means to survive winter across Canada.
