Here’s what’s happening in the city this weekend.
When: Saturday February 2, 2019 at 8 – 11 am
Where: Binbrook Conservation Area Main Entrance
Admission: Free
Hosted by Kids Out Fishing, this event is for kids who are looking to learn a fun new winter hobby, aspiring anglers, or families who want to ice fish for the first time. There will be short seminars on fishing and all gear will be provided. Put down the technology and enjoy some fresh air!
If you’d like to attend the Crappie Derby held from 7 am – 1 pm that day, you can find tickets online. A valid Fishing License is required for adults participating in the derby.
When: Saturday February 2, 2019 from 10 am – 9 pm
Where: Gage Park
Admission: Free
This is the first signature event of Hamilton Winterfest. Friends of Gage Park welcome you, your family and friends to the new Tropical House (by the Green House) to enjoy live music, a fire pit, air-hockey tournament, the Hamilton Public Library bookmobile and story-telling, maple syrup taffy, a children’s obstacle course, and… *drum roll please*… horse drawn carriage rides!

Where: FirstOntario Centre
Admission: $22-26, available online
The Hamilton Bulldogs are back in action this Saturday afternoon.
Facing off against the Erie Otters, we expect this to be a spectacular game. Come on down, cheer on your home team and support hockey in Hamilton.
When: Saturday February 2, 2019 at 5:30 pm
Where: Venetian Club of Hamilton
Admission: $40-55, available online
Dress up and come out to support Barton Village Festival by enjoying a few drinks, great food, live entertainment, dancing, and a silent auction. This is the first annual fundraiser for the free, family-friendly festival (say that 10x fast) that brings in over 20,000 people each year to celebrate and take pride in a revitalized Barton Street.
When: Sunday February 3, 2019 at 10 am – 3 pm
Where: Ancaster Fairgrounds
Admission: $5 (free for kids under 12)
Have a hankering for some new décor or just looking for that piece to finish your collection? There will be many unique, vintage finds at this trade show, including tin toys, antiques, dolls, books, china, records, board games, comic books, sports collectibles, and other vintage memorabilia!
When: Sunday February 3, 2019 from 3 – 6 pm
Where: Art Gallery of Hamilton
Admission: Free
There are three new exhibitions opening at the AGH and you are invited to celebrate them with the artists!
The three exhibits include: Above the Fold: New Expressions in Origami, which will run until May 26; Hamilton Now: Object, which will run until May 20; and The Living Room: unfolding…, which will run until May 12.
Exhibition Tours will begin at 3 pm and at 4:30 pm there will be remarks in the Ng Gallery.

This Sunday, as part of Winterfest, anyone age 7-97 can try curling! There are two time slots for the free event, 3 pm and 4:30 pm. Bring a clean pair of shoes and a non-perishable food item to participate. Why not try something new?
