Here’s what’s happening in the city this weekend.

Pound & Pour

When: Saturday March 30, 2019 from 11 am – 12 pm
Where: Grain&Grit Beer Co.
Admission: $20, tickets available online

Come to Grain&Grit for a rockin’ cardio POUND class, then stay and enjoy a locally made pint of craft beer. Rock out and make some noise, then socialize with a gang of great people afterwards.

In POUND class, each participant gets a set of drumsticks. This high-intensity interval workout incorporates rhythmic movements to get the class pounding the floor as they sweat.

Spring Open Studio & Market

When: Saturday March 30, 2019 from 11 am – 3 pm
Where: Steel City Studio
Admission: Free

Steel City Studio is excited to announce they will be hosting a Spring Open Studio & Makers Market this Saturday.

Be sure to come check out their refreshed space and see what their members have been up to. The market will feature a collection of work by Steel City Studio members to view and purchase, as well as other local artisans and makers.

Vine Street Market

When: Saturday March 30, 2019 from 11 am – 5 pm
Where: 98 Vine Street

Do you love buying local and supporting Hamilton creators? Visit the Vine Street Market this weekend!

Saturday’s market will be a day for community, creativity, and beautiful things. Featuring thirty local vendors, the market will feature an incredible selection of authentically one of a kind items.

Virtual Reality Experience – BBC 1943 Berlin Blitz

When: Saturday March 30, 2019 and Sunday March 31, 2019 from 9 am – 5 pm
Where: Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum
Admission: Free with regular admission ($10-$15)

The BBC has created a masterfully animated Virtual Reality Experience using Vaughan-Thomas’ original war recordings, which vividly capture the danger of the bombing raid.

This unique cinematic experience transports visitors inside the bomber as the crew endures endless flak and a night fighter attack in their journey to the heart of Nazi-occupied Europe.

Presented in immersive Virtual Reality, this powerful experience is the closest that one can get to truly experiencing the bravery demonstrated by Bomber Command. The 14-minute experience is available for those aged 13 and up on a first come, first serve basis.

Spiders Alive!

When: Saturday March 30, 2019 and Sunday March 31, 2019 from 10 am – 5 pm
Where: Royal Botanical Gardens
Admission: $10-18

In Spiders Alive!, visitors can explore spider anatomy and evolutionary history, learn about their signature traits, and be surprised by little-known defence mechanisms.

In addition to the live spiders representing approximately 17 species, the exhibition includes larger-than-life models of spiders, a climbable spider model, and a 100-million-year-old fossil of a spider in limestone.

Around the Bay 30K Race

When: Sunday March 31, 2019 at 9:30 am
Where: York Boulevard at Bay Street North
Admission: $99, registration information available online

Hamilton’s Around the Bay Road Race is the oldest on the continent, first run in 1894. Rich in tradition, it has been won by the best from around the world, including Boston Marathon winners and Olympic gold medallists.

Become part of the continuing tradition by running this challenging course around Hamilton’s natural harbour!

Maple Syrup Festival

When: Sunday March 31, 2019 from 10 am – 4 pm
Where: Westfield Heritage Village
Admission: $6.50-$12

Discover one of Canada’s most time-honoured and tasty traditions this weekend at Westfield Heritage Village.

See demonstrations of traditional techniques used in early Ontario to produce maple syrup. After, take a picturesque walk to Westfield’s sugar bush where you can visit the sugar shack and learn about (and taste!) some of Westfield’s very own maple syrup.

Pug Meet Up

When: Sunday March 31, 2019 from 11 am – 1 pm
Where: My Dog’s Café & Bar
Admission: Free

My Dog’s Café & Bar is proud to be hosting this month’s Pug meet up.

Whether you have a Pug in your family or simply love the breed, all Pugs, Pug owners and Pug lovers are welcome to the event. While the meet up is free to attend, purchasing a beverage or a snack from the café is encouraged.

Jazz Brunch

When: Sunday March 31, 2019 from 11 am – 1 pm
Where: Royal Botanical Gardens – Rock Garden
Admission: $15-$45, tickets available online

Sunday Brunches never sounded so sweet!

Enjoy a delicious brunch complemented by the tranquility of the historic Rock Garden at the Royal Botanical Gardens and the sweet sounds of live entertainment.

Pinball for Humanity

When: Sunday March 31, 2019 from 5–8:30 pm
Where: Arcade
Admission: $5

Love pinball and supporting worthy causes? Test your skills at Arcade this Sunday at their charity pinball tournament in support of Habitat for Humanity Hamilton.

The qualifying round will take place from 5 to 7 pm, with each player getting up to 8 attempts. If 20 or less players register, the top half of players with the best scores will qualify for finals. If more than 20 register, only the top 10 qualify for finals.

Arcade will be donating each $5 registration fee to Habitat for Humanity Hamilton, but donating what you can above $5 is greatly appreciated.

Kenny & Spenny

When: Sunday March 31, 2019 at 6 pm
Where: The Casbah
Admission: $30-$50, available online

Kenny and Spenny are back in Hamilton this weekend with a hilarious, high octane, and totally offensive comedy show.

The internationally renowned frenemies are at odds with each other as their set spirals into hilarious personal attacks, lifelong grievances, and the airing of dirty laundry. Kenny and Spenny will battle it out in the funniest, all out war on today’s comedy circuit.
