Just Walk: Dr. Marianne Talmon on Heart Health

What better way to start your weekend than by making strides toward a healthier lifestyle?

Join local healthcare professionals for a free, fun, accessible walk at T.B. McQuesten Park. A short information session on how to better your heart health will be held after the walk.

The Magical World of Wizarding

When: Saturday March 9, 2019 from 9:30 am – 3:30 pm
Where: Hamilton Children’s Museum
Admission: $2.50-$10

Get your wands ready as the Children’s Museum transforms into a magical school of wizardry!

Visitors will learn all about charms, potions, divination and even how to take care of magical features. Dressing up as your favourite witch or wizard is encouraged.

Ancaster Spring Craft Show and Market

When: Saturday March 9, 2019 from 10 am – 3 pm
Where: Ancaster Fairgrounds
Admission: $3

Looking to embrace the spirit of spring? Visit the Ancaster Spring Craft Show this weekend to satisfy all of your artisanal needs.

This month’s craft show will feature an assortment of artists, makers and products, including woodworking, jewelry, crafts, snacks and a tea room. With over 150 unique vendors, there will be something for everyone.

I Heart Beer Festival – Taco Edition

When: Saturday March 9, 2019 from 1 – 5:30 pm
Where: Hamilton Convention Centre

The I Heart Beer Festival is back in Hamilton this weekend to celebrate beer, cider, spirits and tacos.

The festival will feature 16 breweries, 2 cideries, 2 distillers, 10 local food vendors, entertainment, games and so much more. Each ticket includes two sample tokens and an official sampling glass.

Hamilton Bulldogs vs. Sudbury Wolves

When: Saturday March 9, 2019 at 4 pm
Where:
 FirstOntario Centre
Admission: $22-26, available online

The Hamilton Bulldogs are back in action this Saturday afternoon.

Facing off against the Sudbury Wolves, this’ll surely be a great match! Come on down, cheer on your home team and support hockey in Hamilton.

Spring Tide Bulb Show

When: Saturday March 9, 2019 and Sunday March 10, 2019 from 9 am – 5 pm
Where: Gage Park Tropical Greenhouse
Admission: Free, donations appreciated

Located in the brand new Gage Park Tropical Greenhouse, the Spring Tide Bulb Show is a journey to an oasis with beautiful flower displays and the smell of spring.

Hundreds of spring bulbs with be on display. Bring the family, participate in the scavenger hunt and enjoy the first sights, sounds, and smells of spring!

Potted Potter

When: Saturday March 9, 2019 and Sunday March 10, 2019 at 2 pm and 8 pm
Where: The Studio

Playing to sold-out houses all over the world, Potted Potter takes on the ultimate challenge of condensing all seven Harry Potter books (and a real-life game of Quidditch) into 70 hilarious minutes.

The production features all of your favourite characters, a special appearance from a fire-breathing dragon, endless costumes, jokes, songs, props and a generous helping of Hogwarts magic. The comedy, magic and mayhem of Potted Potter makes for a fun, and funny, visit to the theatre.

Maple Syrup Festival

When: Sunday March 10, 2019 from 10 am – 4 pm
Where: Westfield Heritage Village
Admission: $6.50-$12

Discover one of Canada’s most time-honoured and tasty traditions this weekend at Westfield Heritage Village.

See demonstrations of traditional techniques used in early Ontario to produce maple syrup. After, take a short, picturesque walk to Westfield’s sugar bush where you can visit the sugar shack and learn about (and taste!) some of Westfield’s very own maple syrup.

Needle Felt a Tired Bunny

When: Sunday March 10, 2019 from 1 – 4 pm
Where: Teresa Seaton Stained Glass Studio & Gallery
Admission: $50, tickets available online

Easter is coming and the bunny gets tired after delivering all those Easter baskets. Take your needle felting to the next level by creating a sweet bunny.

Special techniques you will learn are creating the main bunny shape with a skewer, how to sculpt the face by using add-on wool techniques and hold to blend wool colours for a more realistic effect on the fur. All materials are included in the price.

Pomeranian Meet Up

When: Sunday March 10, 2019 from 11 am – 1 pm
Where: My Dog’s Café & Bar
Admission: Free

My Dog’s Café & Bar is proud to be hosting their very first Pomeranian meet up.

Whether you have a Pomeranian in your family or simply love the breed, all Poms, Pom owners, and Pom lovers are welcome to the event. While the meet up is free to attend, purchasing a beverage or a snack from the café is encouraged.
